I was talking to my good friend Abdoulaye Mouflet, the man behind KAJ recently and brought up the fact that he had too much going on to get anything valuable done!
He explained that, when starting out he feels the need to say YES to everything. I agreed. BUT I reminded him that there is an inflection point where saying YES becomes more detrimental than helpful.
Fidji Simo, Facebook's VP of Product, embodies saying NO to the unessentials so freaking well that she's built notoriety around the subject.

This episode was so much fun to record. Interviewing a good friend lowers the stakes and allows us to just have some fun! That led to a really value-packed episode and I can't wait to hear what people think!

4. What I Have Learned: Sidetracking is Automatic and Periodical Regardless of Intention
After speaking to Abdou and reading First Round Review's article on Fidji Simo I realized just how many times I've been pursuing some avenue that is NOT going to bring me the highest ROI.
I THINK I'm very intentional about how I spend my time and that it's always something worth it, but the truth is that, conscious or not, I'll find myself doing some sub-par task from time to time without even noticing how I got there.
Maybe I'm crazy. Maybe this has happened to you. Whatever. Point is, in order to stay focused, and now you'll definitely think I'm crazy, I've started listening to Spotify's Warrior Workout playlist while working...
It is so FREAKING INTENSE that I can't not be focused. It's definitely horrible for your cortisol levels and overall stress, so I WILL have to stop soon... 🙃 But damn is it effective.
