"It doesn’t matter how far you might rise — at some point, you are bound to stumble. Because if you’re constantly doing what we do — raising the bar — if you’re constantly pushing yourself higher, higher, the law of averages predicts that you will, at some point, fall. And when you do, I want you to know this, remember this: There is no such thing as failure — failure is just life trying to move us in another direction." - Oprah Winfrey
This picture represents everything about a fixed mindset, more commonly referred to as "tunnel vision". It's enchanting and easy to follow.
There's a clear path and a clear end.
What you may not have noticed, is that the tunnels are also getting smaller. We usually talk about closemindedness as stagnant, but we rarely realize that it's actually worse.
It shrinks as it goes on.
By not exposing ourselves to more possibilities, we're losing the opportunity to do so later.
So instead of progressing or merely continuing on, we're actually receding as time flows by.
Fear is behind our irrational behavior, and it's difficult to overcome.
But, if we're trying to grow, if we're trying to break free from the tunnel, fate, the comfort zone, and the many other names it's been given, we have to be ready to make mistakes.
Like Oprah said, growth inevitably leads to failure, but failure ultimately leads to growth. 👍
Get out there, make mistakes, learn, grow, and stay foolish! 😜 📷
I've made a lot of mistakes, like "throwing away" 2 years of my life at university, but something incredibly good came out of it; I'm able to look back at the tunnel and see how much HAPPIER I am now that I've broken free of it. 😇 If you could look past your own tunnel-vision, what would you see? 👀
